5 Tips for a healthy family

HEALTHY, HAPPY FAMILY LIFE

Here are five tips to help you get started on the right track to a healthy and happy family life:

Every family is different, so you may need to customise the tips to your family needs and lifestyle, but remember by doing the points below will pay off for you and everyone in your family.

1. DON’T OVER-COMPLICATE THINGS

Parents can over-complicate so many things in the household especially when trying to please everyone. Try to make things easy for yourself i.e. prepare a single meal for everyone and ensure that you don’t obligate yourself to too many activities and responsibilities. One activity per child is plenty.

2. CREATE A SYSTEM

Create a system where everyone has a job/chore to do. By doing this, you will reduce your burden and stress but will also teach your child the importance of having responsibilities. When you have a good working system you can enjoy less stress – everyone will be pitching in without having to be asked over and over again.

3. ORGANISE YOUR HOUSE

Ever in a rush but don’t know where everything and everyone is?Organisation can make life easier on everyone. You can stop the “hunt” that tends to happen at the worst possible moments. You can organise everything from toys, clothes, paperwork, kitchen tools and more. While it’s a lot of work in the beginning, it will be well worth it in the long run.

4. RELATE TO YOUR CHILDREN

Relating to your children and every member of your family is so important. For example, what do they like, who are their friends? The only way you can truly relate to your family members is by spending quality time to really get to know them. By doing so, they will feel more comfortable opening up to you, and you will have a closer relationship with your child. Set aside one-to-one time for each family member. Schedule a special outing once per month – these outings do not need to be big costly activities. This one-to-one time will lead to close conversations and experiences that will bring you closer together.

5. TRY TO RELAX

Slow down and take time to relax. If you feel overwhelmed, then review the steps above once more. They are designed to help you live your best life. Schedule time to relax and unwind… whether that’s time to read a book, go for a walk or lie down, by doing this will make everyone in your family happier and healthier.
